Privacy Policy
Miklos Pavel (“I”, “me”) makes the Briskwalk app (the “App”). This policy explains what data the App uses, where it is kept and who can see it.
In short
- Your health data, location and walk routes stay on your device, in Apple Health and in your own iCloud account. I can’t see them.
- Health and location data are never sold, never shared with third parties and never used for advertising.
- The App sends anonymous usage events to Google Firebase Analytics, and manages purchases with RevenueCat. Neither receives your health data or your location.
- The App doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
1. Health data (Apple Health)
If you allow it, the App reads this data from Apple Health, including data recorded by your Apple Watch:
- Step count
- Walking and running distance
- Active energy (calories burned)
If you allow it, the App also saves your walks to Apple Health as workouts, along with their distance and step count.
The App uses this data only to show your activity and your walks. It is processed on your device. It is never sent to me or to any third party, never used for advertising or marketing, and never sold.
You can change or withdraw access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › Briskwalk.
2. Motion and fitness
During a walk, the App uses your iPhone’s motion sensors to count steps and measure your pace. This happens on your device.
3. Location
If you allow it, the App uses your location while a walk is in progress, including while the App is in the background, to measure distance and draw your route on a map. It doesn’t use your location at any other time.
Routes are saved in your private iCloud database (see section 5). They are never sent to me or to any third party.
You can change location access in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Briskwalk.
4. Information you enter
- Weight and height are stored only on your device and are used to estimate the calories you burn.
- Profile photo: you choose it in the system photo picker, so the App only receives the one photo you pick. It is stored on your device and in your iCloud account, so it appears on your other devices.
- Reminders are scheduled as notifications on your device.
- Share cards: when you share a walk, the App can save an image to your photo library. It only asks for permission to add photos, not to read them.
5. iCloud
Your training plan progress and your walks (route, distance and duration) are saved in the App’s private database in your iCloud account, so they sync between your devices and survive reinstalling the App. This data is protected by your Apple Account and handled under Apple’s Privacy Policy. I can’t access it.
You can delete a walk in the App. You can remove all of the App’s iCloud data in Settings › [your name] › iCloud.
6. Analytics (Google Firebase Analytics)
I use Firebase Analytics to see which features people use and to find bugs. The App sends events such as:
- Opening the App
- Your answers during onboarding: why you walk (for example, for a daily walk or to lose weight), when you prefer to walk, your daily step goal and your reminder settings
- Starting, finishing or discarding a walk, how many minutes it lasted, how many of them were brisk, and whether it had a route
- Turning reminders on or off, and the reminder time you chose
- Joining or completing a challenge, or opening a plan
- Seeing the Briskwalk Plus offer, tapping to buy, whether you have Plus, and failed purchases
- Error messages when something goes wrong
Firebase also records a random identifier for your installation of the App, your device model, iOS version, App version, language and approximate country or region.
Analytics events never include data from Apple Health, your location or routes, your weight or height, or your name or email address. The App uses the version of Firebase Analytics that doesn’t access your device’s advertising identifier, and the data isn’t used to track you or to show you ads.
Google processes this data under the Firebase privacy terms and the Google Privacy Policy, and deletes it automatically after the retention period set for the App’s Firebase project.
7. Purchases (RevenueCat)
Briskwalk Plus is sold through the App Store, and Apple handles all payments. I never see your payment details or your Apple Account.
I use RevenueCat to check whether you have Briskwalk Plus. RevenueCat receives a random identifier it creates for the App, your purchase and subscription history, your App Store country, and your device model, iOS version and App version. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
8. When you contact me
If you email me, I receive your email address and your message, and use them only to reply.
If you report a bug from the App, the email also includes the App’s error logs and basic device information: device model, iOS version, battery level and charging state. You see the email before you send it, and you can remove the attachments.
9. Keeping and deleting your data
Data on your device, in Apple Health and in your iCloud account stays under your control. Deleting the App removes the data stored on your device. Data in Apple Health and iCloud stays there until you delete it.
To ask for a copy of the analytics or purchase data linked to your installation of the App, or to have it deleted, email me at pavelmiklos1@gmail.com. I’ll respond within 30 days.
10. Your rights
The App uses health, motion and location data only after you allow it in the iOS permission prompts, and you can withdraw that at any time in Settings. Analytics and error data are used on the basis of my legitimate interest in keeping the App working and improving it. Purchase data is needed to provide what you bought.
If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy of it. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. In Hungary, that is the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH).
11. Children
The App isn’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent me personal data, contact me and I’ll delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I’ll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
